As a Design Engineer specializing in sheet metal design, you will play a pivotal role in
our product development team, responsible for delivering project designs and
developing new designs in accordance with the specifications provided by the product
team. This role requires expertise in SolidWorks and a solid understanding of sheet
metal design principles. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to
ensure that designs meet technical requirements, manufacturing feasibility, and quality
standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design Delivery:
- Utilize SolidWorks software to create detailed designs for sheet metal components,
assemblies, and structures according to project requirements and timelines. - Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and specifications that adhere to industry
standards and best practices.
- New Design Development:
- Collaborate with the product team to understand project specifications, user
requirements, and design objectives for new products or product enhancements. - Translate conceptual ideas and sketches into feasible and manufacturable sheet
metal designs.
- Technical Expertise:
- Apply knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, materials, and manufacturing
techniques to optimize designs for cost, performance, and quality. - Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews to assess the technical viability of
proposed designs and recommend improvements.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including product management,
manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure alignment of design solutions with
project goals and requirements. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders to present design concepts, solicit
feedback, and address concerns or revisions in a timely manner.
- Documentation and Standards Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including BOMs,
specifications, and engineering change orders (ECOs). - Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations
governing sheet metal design and fabrication.
Qualifications: – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. – Minimum of one year of experience in sheet metal design using SolidWorks software. – Proficiency in CAD modeling, drafting, and detailing of sheet metal components and
assemblies. – Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, manufacturing constraints,
and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles. – Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and familiarity with
ASME Y14.5 standards. – Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. – Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a
team environment. – Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment.
